Volunteering
Volunteers are The Horstmann Trust’s lifeblood. Join this amazing team of people to help make an impact both for the vultures and the native environment.

Aviculture and collection
A lot of the work that is done by volunteers is connected to the work we do with the vultures. There are many things that need doing on a daily basis for their husbandry and welfare, from cleaning baths, refurbishing aviaries and maintaining high standards of biosecurity. Helping out with this vital work allow volunteers to work close to and get to know these amazing birds.

Ecology and nature
Our site is just over 110 acres of mixed types of land and vegetation. There is a wide variety of flora and fauna that we look to manage and encourage. Working to achieve the recommendations made to us by our team of ecologists, our volunteers help us to improve the site further for our native wildlife and natural beauty.
Volunteering with us at the Horstmann Trust is something for adults of all ages and abilities but it is largely outdoors doing fairly physical tasks, so be prepared to get stuck in in all weathers. The team will make sure you are supported and guided in helping us with all the tasks at hand, and tailor volunteering to your ability. If you aren’t sure if volunteering is for you but want to know more or have a chat with one of the team please contact us.
Fundraise
There are lots of fun and fantastic ways to get involved and raise much needed funds for our work. We’re here to support you along the way…
