What we do

Everything we do at the Horstmann Trust is designed to benefit vultures either directly or indirectly. We believe effective conservation requires teamwork across a range of disciplines. So, we’re fostering a network of committed individuals and organisations to share learnings and tackle problems together.

Conservation

Our main conservation focuses on our collection of birds and their breeding programmes. We work with our partners and other organisations to support wild populations and reintroduction initiatives.

Research

We are dedicated to producing useful and meaningful research from our facility in Carmarthenshire. The privileged access we have to our birds allows us to gain unique insights into some of the less understood aspects of vulture life and behaviour. The aim is help protect wild vultures from further losses and to promote the recovery in their populations.

Aviculture

Our expert team has a wealth of experience breeding vultures in captivity. Our breeding programmes allow us extraordinary insight into vulture reproduction and we share our findings with the conservation community.

Courses and Training

We believe our knowledge and experience should be available to all and therefore, provide courses and training opportunities for people to develop their skills and learning.

Consultancy services

Our team of experienced and knowledgeable aviculturists specialise in effective care of vultures and other birds of prey and are on hand to help others.

There are lots of ways to get involved and raise much needed funds for our work. We’re here to support you along the way…
